Humana, a second-hand clothing retailer that has been operating in Lithuania for more than 20 years and also has a second-hand clothing chain abroad, will encourage its customers to opt for an eco-friendly alternative – reusable, environmentally friendly shopping bags.
The bags, made of non-woven textile material using innovative ultrasonic sewing technology, will be supplied by Bagfactory, the largest Baltic producer of eco-friendly reusable non-woven fabric and paper bags in Lithuania.
According to Humana, the bags are already available in the company’s stores abroad in Belgium, Germany and Hungary. Paper bags are still used in Lithuania and will soon be replaced by textile bags.
“Humana’s second-hand clothing retail chain is a leader in sustainable fashion in Lithuania, allowing customers not only to buy good quality clothing but also to make a personal contribution to reducing the textile industry’s impact on the environment and conserving natural resources. We are constantly looking for ways to reduce our activities’ environmental impact further. In 2020, we installed a solar power plant on the roof of our production building and generated green energy for our own use. Attitudes towards sustainability are changing rapidly: more and more people are making a conscious choice to live more environmentally friendly and are thinking about the environmental impact of their choices when they buy goods. So, we have decided to offer reusable bags to our customers,” says Gitana Mitrulevičiūtė, director of legal and general affairs for UAB Humana LT Group.
Gvidas Krolis, CEO of Bagfactory, said: “We are honoured to work with Humana. Not only has this brand already become a symbol of sustainable and environmentally friendly consumption, but also an example of how to help organizations in developing countries around the world implement social projects.”
Bagfactory produces bags for customers such as Lidl, Euronics and major German, Benelux and Scandinavian supermarket chains.
