Our innovative ECO-CENT bag is designed and manufactured in Lithuania for repeated use. It can be used as an alternative to single-use polyethylene and paper bags.

The European Union has introduced measures to reduce the consumption of lightweight plastic carrier bags. Directive (EU) 2015/720, adopted in 2015, requires Member States to ensure a sustained reduction in their use.

The Directive set targets of no more than 90 lightweight plastic carrier bags per person by the end of 2019 and 40 by the end of 2025, or equivalent reduction targets. Alternatively, Member States could introduce measures to ensure that lightweight plastic carrier bags were not provided free of charge at the point of sale.

    • These measures were introduced because lightweight plastic carrier bags are reused less often than thicker bags, become waste sooner and, due to their low weight, are more likely to enter the environment.

In response to changing packaging habits, BAGFACTORY began developing the non-woven ECO-CENT bag in 2017. It was designed for repeated use as an alternative to single-use shopping bags.

How Does the ECO-CENT Bag Apply the Reduce, Reuse and Recycle Principles?

REDUCE: The ECO-CENT bag is designed to use materials efficiently while maintaining the strength and functionality required for its intended use.

REUSE: Made from a soft, flexible material, the ECO-CENT bag is designed for repeated use. It has been tested to carry 15 kg of goods and can be washed using a cold wash cycle.

RECYCLE: The recycled material content of the ECO-CENT bag can be up to 100%, reducing the need for virgin raw materials. The bag is made from a single type of material, so there are no different main materials to separate. After use, it can be sorted for recycling according to local waste management guidelines.

Why Choose Our Machine-Made Non-Woven Bags?

Our bags can be used as an alternative to single-use plastic bags and offer the following features:

Why to choose ECO-CENT?

MADE IN EUROPE

We develop and manufacture ECO-CENT bags at our factory in Vilnius, Lithuania. The bags are designed for repeated use.

LIGHTWEIGHT MATERIAL

The ECO-CENT bag is made from 50 g/m² material. Its construction is designed to use the material efficiently while maintaining the strength and functionality required for its intended use.

MADE WITH UP TO 100% RECYCLED POST-INDUSTRIAL MATERIAL

Although lightweight, the ECO-CENT bag can be made using material containing up to 100% recycled post-industrial content, depending on the product specification.

MADE FROM A MONO-MATERIAL

After multiple uses, the material of our non-woven bag can be 100% recycled, due to it being made from a mono-material.

DESIGNED FOR REPEATED USE

The ECO-CENT bag is designed for repeated use.

LOWER RAW MATERIAL CARBON FOOTPRINT

The raw material used for the ECO-CENT bag has a lower carbon footprint, measured in kg CO₂e per kg of fibre, than the alternative materials assessed in the referenced study.

WATER-BASED INKS

We use water-based inks to print ECO-CENT bags. The inks comply with applicable EU requirements.

ATTRACTIVE PRICE

Using European-made machinery and lightweight yet durable materials, we produce our ECO-CENT bags at competitive prices that rival traditional polyethylene (PE) and paper bags.

LARGE CARRYING WEIGHT

The ECO-CENT bag has been tested to carry up to 15 kg of goods and is designed for repeated use.

HAND WASHABLE

The bag can be hand-washed at temperatures below 30°C, following the care instructions.

BREATHABLE FABRIC

The non-woven fabric is made by taking polymers and spinning them using heat and air. The resulting long fluffy threads are then pressed together between hot rollers, creating a flexible but solid fabric with a weave-like texture similar to that of canvas. The texture means the fabric is breathable, with a pleasant look and feel.

SUITABLE FOR INDIRECT FOOD CONTACT

The ECO-CENT non-woven bag is suitable for indirect food contact when used as secondary packaging.

RENEWABLE ENERGY PRODUCTION

All electricity used in our bag production comes from certified renewable energy sources.

CIRCULAR ECONOMY PRINCIPLES IN PRODUCTION

Our production process meets the 4 main criteria for a circular economy and green production: cleaner production approach, use of niche technologies, reduction of the use of natural resources, and a minimised environmental and social impact.
